Alfresco - Enterprise Content Management
Redpill Linpro provides solutions to meet your information management needs, in cooperation with Alfresco, to Alfresco is the leading open source software alternative for information management (Enterprise Content Management).
The quantity of information that a business or organisation has to manage has doubled approximately every year since the year 2000.
Such information is produced by employees in the form of office documents, arrives in the form of E-mail messages and is received in physical form through the postal service. All this information must be managed in a manner that ensures that it is received by the appropriate people, that it is factually correct information and that this information being created can actually be reused.
Alfresco was created by a group of the leading individuals from Documentum and Interwoven, with the expertise to create a product adhering to the latest requirements. The majority of the present-day ECM systems were created during the early 1990s, before standards for information management existed. Many of the current technical solutions that we take for granted today, such as application servers, web services, RSS and REST were in fact created after many of the ECM systems were created. Alfresco has all these technologies built in right from the start.
Alfresco is a modern spearhead ECM tool built upon Spring, Hibernate, Lucene and jBPM and is based on standards such as JSR-170, JSR-168, Web Services and REST. This enables Alfresco to be implemented on any J2SE 5.0 (JRE 5.0) application server such as Tomcat or Jboss and to offer significantly improved scalability and high availability with cache technology, automatic redundancy and clustering. It contains everything that you could demand of a modern ECM tool in the form of library services and automation of information management.
