eSam survey pivotal for Boverket’s selection of Redpill Linpro
The Open Source specialist and digital societies builder Redpill Linpro is announcing today that Boverket (the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning) has chosen the company’s cloud service for digital collaboration. This was confirmed following a tender process carried out by Boverket for collaboration services with the aim of introducing a modern and functional platform that also complies with regulatory requirements, which was won by Redpill Linpro. The tender is also a direct result of eSam’s survey of alternatives to Skype and Teams.

The collaboration will involve Redpill Linpro supplying and operating a bundled, private cloud service for video meetings, chat, file sharing and document management for the authority’s 270 employees.

Redpill Linpro places considerable focus on offering cloud services for digital collaboration, which was further underlined with the launch of the Digital Workplace business area at the end of 2021. The company’s digital collaboration services have been highlighted by eSam as a clear and complete alternative to US cloud services. The service that Boverket has procured includes the Nextcloud, Jitsi Meet Rocket.chat and Collaboard collaboration tools. The tools will be provided as a cloud service from Redpill Linpro’s Nordic cloud.

Johan Bernhardsson, who is responsible for the Digital Workplace business area at Redpill Linpro, is very pleased about the tender win. He also hopes that Boverket will be seen as leading the way when more of Sweden’s public sector players look for alternatives to the dominating US services.

Boverket is moving from planning to action and is one of the first Swedish authorities to procure a digital collaboration platform based on the thorough survey that eSam’s working group presented in the summer. Naturally, we are proud of the confidence that Boverket has placed on Redpill Linpro and we look forward to beginning the collaboration,” explains Johan Bernhardsson.

He continued: “We know that many of Sweden’s public sector organizations are monitoring this project given that they, due to regulatory reasons, are required to work with solutions whose primary owner has its legal office in Europe

Today’s announcement is an important milestone for Redpill Linpro, which has grown substantially in the past year and has a target of achieving sales of SEK 1 billion by 2024.

The lack of an agreement concerning data transfer between the EU and the US has put a spanner in the works for many players that have acquired a dependency on US services. With our focus on solutions based on open source code for the digital workplace, we want to provide Swedish and Nordic authorities, municipalities and companies with other alternatives. In this context, today’s announcement is very important,” says Henrik Gavelli, CEO of Redpill Linpro.

The tender was awarded on the basis of renewed competition for Kammarkollegiet’s (the Swedish Legal, Financial and Administrative Services Agency) framework agreement for software solutions.
